East Coast Supercharging to sponsor Quick 4

9/6/02 - East Coast Supercharging, Cream Ridge, NJ, has signed on to become the Corvette Challenge Quick 4 Sponsor. The success of the first race has led to this becoming a recurring event. An additional 2 Quick 4 eliminators will be held for the 2002 season. The 1st ever Quick 4 sponsored by ECS will be held during the 7th points race on the schedule on Saturday September 21, 2002 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. This will be followed by the 3rd ever and of the season on Saturday November 2, 2002 also at Raceway Park.

Co-owners Chris Coriell and Doug Ring are happy to sponsor the premier show of the premier drag racing series in the country. ECS will award at each Quick 4 Eliminator, $200 cash to the winner, $100 cash to the runner-up, and $50 each to each runner-up. The series within the series will be growing along with the regular Bracket Series. The setup of the Quick 4 is such that it really has no impact on the brackets. The following paragraphs will give further detail on the series as well as all of the rules required to qualify.

Keith Brownlee wins the inaugural Quick 4 Race

7/27/02 - Keith Brownlee from Shrewsbury, NJ was the number one qualifier with an astounding and wheel standing 9.79 ET. Mike Romain, Brian Miller and Bill Maloney filled the rest of the field with 10 second ET's. The first round pinned Keith against Bill and Bill ran a new personal best 10.656 at 129.40 MPH but it just was not enough with Keith tripping the clocks with a 10.192. We also saw Romain in his Black 99 against Miller in the LeMans Pace Car painted 99 Corvette Coupe. Mike took the win despite a slight RT disadvantage with a 10.805 @ 127.81 to Brian's 11.14 @ 124.58. Brian is the founder of the Corvette Challenge and Mike has participated in each of its 4 years of existence despite his profession's requirement for him to travel frequently. Corvette Challenge to hold 1st Quick 4 heads-up race on July 27, 2002

6/17/02 - The success of the Corvette Challenge has been phenomenal. A new record is broken at each event. With Event 2 for 2002 starting an all time high of 79 cars. Many of the cars are bone stock or have a few bolt on modifications like open exhaust and free flowing air filters. But a few Corvette owners are not satisfied with the stock car and have built some Super Quick Corvettes. These Vettes are owned by drivers such as Brian Miller (founder of the Corvette Challenge), Bill Maloney, Dennis Kazimir, Mike Romain, Brent Grigsby, Chris Campi, Lenny Hall, John Mackey, the soon to be unveiled Brian Sherwood machine, and many others. These cars are prepared by many Corvette tuners including our own 2002 primary sponsor Cartek Racing in Garwood, NJ and supporting sponsor The Vette Doctors in Amityville, NY. These drivers of Vettes running mid to low 11's and some even 10's, want a bit more than the Elapsed Time (ET) Bracket Racing provided by The Challenge. In order to satisfy the request of these Quick car drivers, we will be bringing to you what we will call "The Quick 4".
