Corvette Challenge Racers Ready Heading to the LSX Shootout
10/02/07 - In just a week, several Corvette Challenge, Pro 8 Shootout and Pro 10.0 racers are heading to the inaugural GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout to be held in Memphis, TN, Oct 11-12, 2007. The race date will feature four classes including two heads up classes, one for power adders and one for all motor, a mixed index class and a True Street class where drivers make a 30 mile cruise then three successive passes. The event will be covered by a dozen magazines, including Vette, GM High Tech and Hot Rod among others. Several television shows will have their cameras and show hosts there as well.
Paul Major and Bill Maloney will be competing in the all out drag radial class where power adders are allowed and low 8-second passes will be in abundance and may not be enough to win in a class with the quickest GM bodied vehicles with LS motors. George Benson hopes to have his newly 7.50 certified C6 Z06 there but is waiting for some parts and we hope he makes it. The Corvette Challenge and Pro 10.0 rep will be yours truly. Several other Corvette Challenge racers from Florida will meet us there as well. The Vette Doctors support team will be flying in as well for the event.
For more information visit the LSX Home Page, the GMPP LSX Home Page or the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) Message Boards.
Wish us luck on The Corvette Forum.

Z100's Greg T Goes for Ride in Chris Young's Race Car!
| 09/15/07 - As you know, Corvette Challenge racer, Chris Young, took Greg T from the Z Morning Zoo, 100.3 radio station in New York, www.z100.com for a ride down the famous Old Bridge Township Raceway Park (www.racewaypark.com) drag strip in Englishtown, NJ this past week. Chris took in-car. The start of the process, Greg T calls the radio station because this was done live. He gets the go ahead and Chris does the burnout which heats the tires for super traction at the hit of the throttle. The smoke in the car is normal from the burnout. You can here Greg talking to the station as he readies for the pass. You can here Greg T talking to Elvis, (no he did not see Elvis at the 1000'), the Morning Zookeeper. It was a great time and you can here Greg's excitement on his first quarter mile pass. Chris got the wheels in the air and still manage a 1.41 short time with Greg in the car!
If this is your first visit to this site you can click the link to read what we are all about. The poll explains how auto start works and how you may be affected. Please review the poll and vote in the poll so that we can make an informed decision on the future of our series. If you are indifferent on the matter you do not need to vote (meaning you are okay with the change) and are welcome to make comments. Please visit www.corvetteforum.com to view the poll.

John Panuzzo Jr. Memorial Trophy is Back!
03/17/07 - It is with super great pleasure that I announce to you that the John Panuzzo Jr. Memorial Trophy given to the driver with the best winning reaction time in the first round is back!!!!
We sadly reported a few days ago that John Panuzzo, leader of Team Panuzzo, would be withdrawing from the sponsorship of this very special and meaningful award. It was very heart breaking for all of us to accept this was happening.
Thanks to the Corvette version of the Knight in Shining Armor, the Black Knight 06 of Shining Fiberglass, the award is back! Neil Fine (Black Knight 06) has agreed to step in and help John Panuzzo (jpee) bring back the award. It was a very emotional partnering in getting these two gentlemen together to finalize the details. Both drivers know each other from participating on the Corvette Forum and in racing but now have formed a partnership and friendship that is truly magical, thanks to our Corvette Challenge.
Please join me in welcoming back Team Panuzzo and the John Panuzzo Jr. Memorial Trophy to the Corvette Challenge.
Thank you. John and Neil

March 17 Event Officially Postponed to April 14, 2007, Second Session
03/16/07 - 5:51 PM - The snow is coming down and the forecast is not good for tomorrow so Raceway Park has officially cancelled or postponed (in our case) all activities for tomorrow March 17. Mark your calendars, the as will have our first ever double-header on Saturday April 14 for both the East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge and the Cartek Racing Pro 10.0. We will have our first regularly scheduled session with gates opening around 11 AM. Following the completion of the morning session we will bring them all back to the staging lanes for the second session which will begin roughly 4 pm but not till our first event is completed. Don't miss this action packed double header event!
Weather Watching...What If We Snow Out?
03/16/07 1:00 PM - As of now Raceway Park has not made an official call to postpone tomorrow's drag racing activities. It is extremely possible that it will we postponed but an official determination will not be made until tomorrow morning. I will post here as soon as I know but feel free to call the track 732 446 7800 to listen to recorded updates either tonight or tomorrow morning. If it does get snowed out, we will make up tomorrow's race as part of a double header session on April 14 as announced with our 2007 schedule. This will mean we will race in the morning session and again in the evening session so plan on a full day of Corvette drag racing.
Farewell and Thank You to Team Panuzzo and United Racing
03/12/07 - It is with great sadness today that we announce that two of our longest running sponsors will not be returning in 2007.
John Panuzzo, Team Panuzzo, who has sponsored the Corvette Challenge John Panuzzo Jr. Memorial Trophy given to the driver with the Best Winning Reaction Time in the first round since its inception, announced today that will not be able to return to sponsor this award. We would like to thank John, his wife and Team Panuzzo for the support of the Corvette Challenge and this award which means so much more to us long-time Challenge participants than just having the best winning reaction time, it helped us all remember John's son, John Jr., who is no longer with us. The award will continue and we will miss calling it the John Panuzzo Jr. Memorial Award. John will continue to race with us so we look forward to racing with you this season and in the future.
John Policastro, United Racing, has supported the Corvette Challenge since 2003 and has been the sponsor of our Class Winner trophy which we all know as the first round win trophies. If you look at any of your trophies from the first round or the Trophy Upgrade awards, United Racing is right there with you. Not only will we lose John as a sponsor but we will also be missing him as a participant in our series as his business undergoes a fairly large move and his racing schedule will be limited. We wish you well with the business John.
Ralph Savarese Starts the Season More Warmed-up Than Most With Event 1 Win
03/10/07 - Not many were kept away as a slew of Corvette Challenge regulars and new drivers came out for the season opening Warm-up Non-Points race. Several showed some rust but Ralph Savarese and Don Peppler showed none of it as they went to the final which Savarese won as Peppler was just off his dial with a little bit of a struggle getting a gear. More details, pictures and video to come.
Update - Event article is now ready along with links to Chris Young's photo gallery and the new camcorder videos in a very large viewable size. Go to 2007 Event 1 Results
See You At The Track!
03/09/07 - The winter wait is just about over. We are looking forward to getting the East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge presented by Yank Racing Converters and Gear Star Transmission for the 2007 Season. Tomorrow, March 10, 2007 is our season "Warm-up" race. A full payout event that is non-points meaning if you come back rusty and go out early it won't hurt you championship or other title hopes. So get'em gassed up and put on them racin' shoes cause "We Goin' Racin'!"
Just How Do You Do That Ladder?
02/11/07 - As the season approaches quickly, one of the most common questions we get is, "How do you figure the ladder?" This is something I had done and FAQ on (frequently asked questions) some time ago. I have updated dated the page and am providing a link for your review. How do you do that ladder?. Incidentally, the ladder for each event is including in the online article for each event for the Corvette Challenge class which you can get to from the link above for RACE RESULTS.
New Team Challenge for the Corvette Challenge Racers
02/05/07 - If you were not at the Banquet then you may have missed this exciting new announcement. The Corvette Challenge Club Challenge Cup has now been retired with CCDV going undefeated. We have instituted a new Team Challenge Cup which will allow all to participate without having to be a member of any club. Details can be found on this new concept, in which you can compete for a Team Challenge Cup (much like the Hockey Stanley Cup) with Team CCDV taking the lead in tracking the points while taking on all comers found on the Team Challenge Cup page.
Spectrum Brings Back the Gear Jammers Award
Spectrum Equipment Service Gear Jammer Award Returns for 2007
02/05/07 - We are happy to announce the return of the Spectrum Equipment Service Gear Jammer Award. With a successful inception in May of 2006, Tom Sabolevsky announced at the annual Awards Banquet that he will again sponsor the Gear Jammer Award. Don Peppler Jr. (Winner) and Neil Vernarelli (Runnerup) were on hand to pick up their awards for being the best handlers of Corvette Power with their hands and feet shifting their way through the season.
2007 will be a fresh start and the full season will be counted for the award that recognizes the "non-coffee" drinkers and rewards them for their efforts to "row" through the gears for the wins. Best of luck to all in the coming 2007 season.
Thanks For The Banquet
02/04/07 - Thanks to all who made the banquet last night. We had a great time, some more so than others. We appreciate your attendance and support for the series and your peers. The support for the Toys for Teens and Tots was at a all time high with $750 coming for one single item, an Ashley Force autographed Dragster, from Paul Major in addition to several other high donation items. Personal thanks from me to Paul Ziajski for the winning bid on the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones and then gifting them to me; thank you. Over time I will process the videos taken with our new camcorder (thanks again) for all to view. Three weeks to The National!!!!!!!!!

The dates are preliminary and are expected to be finalized on or around January 5th, 2007. If there is a change, we will announce it here so check back for updates.
Please note, you do not have to be a points racer to participate in any of the three classes. This is the same as always for the Corvette Challenge (bracket class) but new for the Pro 10.0 Index and Pro 8 Shootout along with the new Pro series points system (to be announced shortly (preview what 2006 would have been like under the new points system click here.)
Rainouts and makeups will be handled a little differently in 2007. If we get rained out for a particular event, we will attempt to use the second session of dates that are already on our schedule. This means double headers for us just like in baseball. There are four dates that we will first attempt to use as 2nd session makeups for these double headers. The dates that will be considered first are 4/14, 5/12, 7/7 and 10/20. Please be advised we will make all efforts to make up a rainout which means if we get past these four dates, we may add another date at the end of the season.
