NHRA Helmet Expiration Dates
12/20/05 - In the 2006 NHRA rule book on page 230 is a helmet expiration date schedule. It states that all Snell 90 rated helmets expire 1/1/2006 and Snell 95 helmets expire 1/1/2007. It is important for you to have his information because if you are in the market for a helmet, you want to ensure it does not expire in the two years. If you are shopping for a helmet, please ensure a Snell 2000 or Snell 2005 rating. IHRA tracks will likely follow in this pattern.
Corvette Challenge Sites Moved to a New Server
12/13/05 - Ove the past two weeks we have moved all of our websites to a new server. We moved over 7 GB of data and over 6 years of history. We have moved to IXWEBHOSTING (click image on right). Some of our sites were on different servers with different levels of service, some with too little space and some with too little bandwidth (amount of data transferred from the site when users click on links and visit the page). We now have all six of our Corvette Challenge webs sites sharing 500 GB of bandwidth per month and an unlimited amount of server space. Please do report if you find a broken link on any of our sites. Now taking payment for ECS CC p RF and VDP8S p NR Banquet p CCW
10/31/05 - Wow that is a lot of acronyms.

I will now begin taking payment for the 2006 Awards Banquet presented by CCW for the East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge presented by Romar Fabrication and The Vette Doctors Pro 8 Shootout presented by Neverlift Racecraft starting with the next race.

I do not have tickets yet, which you will need to get in but I will mail them to you when they are printed. This is the same as I did last year and I offer this as an option to those who wish to pay by cash rather than mail a check to me.

Cost of the tickets will be the same as last year thanks to CCW helping subsidize the cost of the banquet and all of the little goodies that go along with it. That is $35 per person. You can bring as many people as you like to the banquet.

I will be arranging a block of rooms this week as well for those who wish to spend the night.

I will take a check as well if you wish to give me one at the track. If you wish to mail me a check, send me an email and I will send you my address.

John Panuzzo wins Event 10, Mike Mitchell wins VDP8 Race 6 while Ralph Savarese and Paul Ziajski Clinch Championships 11/5/05 - Our final points race of the season was as good as promised. With Panuzzo and Mitchell taking event wins while Ralph Savarese becomes our first bracket points repeat Champion and Paul Ziajski captured the Pro 8 Championship. More details will follows.

Preliminary points updated for both classes

Cameras were snapping today and the additional help at the starting for me made it possible for us to capture 391 photos. If your car is not in there, your car was not there. Thanks to Neil Fine, Chris Young and Gary Ernest for helping out. We should have additional photos by Alex and Joe Donnelly soon too. Click for Photo Gallery

Check back for more later.

Final Points Race To Decide Championships
11/04/05 - We are heading into our last points race of the season and we have some titles up for grabs.

First off, not for grabs, is the ECS Corvette Challenge Club Challenge Cup. Team CCDV has clinched this title presuming second place CCA1 does not bring 140 racers Saturday. As much as I would love to see that, it is not likely. Congrats to CCDV for third in a row.

Our Bracket Championship looks to have our first repeat Champion, Ralph Savarese. This is presuming Chris Young does not get 6 more points than him. Savarese will win the tiebreaker if they end up tied. Presuming we go six rounds, Savarese only needs to win first round to clinch the Championship. Good luck Chris. John Hadyniak has mathematical chance but will be eliminated as soon as Ralph stages.

Our Pro 8 Championship is very close. Ziajski and Valla come in tied, provided Valla comes in at all as his engine blew last weekend. Mike Mitchell, 2004 champion, has a chance to catch and pass both Ziajski and Valla. Ziajski clinches with a 2 round wins. Valla clinches by going one round more than Ziajski and 2 rounds more than Mitchell. Mitchell Clinches by having to win the event and having Ziajski and Valla not win more than 1 round. Confusing......just try to be Nick trying to explain this in the tower.

Silly Goose Rookie of the year title is all but wrapped with Bob Korreck coming in 6 pts ahead of Kyle Nikola (who we believe will not make the event due to mid terms at Ohio State) and 7 ahead of Neil Vernarelli. Presuming six rounds, Korreck needs to only win 1 round if Kyle makes it or stage the car only if Kyle does not make it.

All scenarios can change if we go 7 rounds, meaning 65 Corvettes. If you want to be a part of the determining titles, bring that car out and get us up to 7 rounds.

Cya at the track!!!!

Eric Fischer takes Event 9 and Mike Mitchell claims Pro 8 win
10/29/05 - Eric Fischer, in his first Corvette Challenge final, took the win over Bob Korreck while Mike Mitchell took a competition single in the final for the win in the Pro 8, his second in 2005. More detail as will soon be available. Prelimanary points have been updated for both classes. We are looking for a great close to the points season next week with three drivers capable of taking their respective championships in both classes.

Photo Album is ready. Please leave feedback and comments as I have tried some new angles. Click for photo album.

No Racing Today! Rescheduled to Next Week
10/22/05 - Due to early morning weather conditions all drag racing activities have been cancelled at Raceway Park today. No racing for us today. Our Corvette Challenge and Pro 8 races have officially been moved to next week at the same time. We will see you all there.

2005 Award Banquet February 11, 2006 at the Holiday Inn, Monroe, NJ. 10/14/05 - Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time to start thinking about the 2005 East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge Awards Banquet....at least for me it is The Date and Place is set. We did move the location one more time as space was a at the brink at last year's banquet.

I will be calculating cost soon and hopefully will keep the price the same as once again, Complete Custom Wheel (CCW) has agreed to present our banquet. We are very grateful (me especially) that John has agreed to help us for the third straight year. Thanks.

If you would like to help out or donate door prizes (I thank you all for your previous donations) please email.

Also, if you would like to submit a candidate for three of our awards, please email

ECS CC Event 8 Coverage is now complete
10/05/05 - Sorry for the delay folks. Coverage is now complete for our last Corvette Challenge racer from Sept 3, won by Ralph Savarese. Click for Event 8 coverage.
Congratulations to Ralph Savarese in the Bracket Finals
10/04/05 - Our current points leader, Ralph Savarese, has return from his trip the Bracket Finals. We are happy to say that Ralph represented us and Raceway Park well. Ralph managed to win three rounds before being eliminated. The Bracket Finals is where the all Division 1 tracks send their best racers and the competition is certainly tough. Ralph joins John Panuzzo (2004) and Rob Farley (2003) as our Corvette Challenge representatives since we have been included in the team. You can congratulate Ralph, who ran in John Panuzzo's car, on The Corvette Forum.
Coverage of the Aug 7 Vette Doctors Pro 8 Completed
09/21/05 - Well it has been a while since The Vette Doctors Pro 8 are in action so now would be as good a time as any to release the article. Sorry it took so long. My race schedule has been through the roof so we are little late with some articles. Given the recent match racing between Paul Major and Paul Ziajski, we can catch up on our Pro 8 action. If you have not heard, both Paul's treated us to some fine drag racing with side-by-side 9 second passes at the recent EFI Nationals ls1tch.com race. For coverage of The Vette Doctors Pro 8 Aug 7, 2005 race click here.
Timeslip and Points Reminder
09/13/05 - Ladies and gentlemen, this is a friendly reminder that we, the drivers, are responsible for checking our correct car number is on our time slip. If it is not correct, we must report it to the tower immediately.

If we do not, there is a huge implication on points. If our number is incorrect, then our points will not be correct. If the points are incorrect and we catch it 1 or two races later, it causes a huge hardship on points calculation as all of the negative tie breaker points change and this is calculated manually.

Raceway Park has the right to not give those points back if we do not notify them on the day of the race.

Numbers have been wrong for a few drivers in the past few races so please always check your time slip.

125 Videos of Event 8
09/04/05 - A collection of 125 videos have been loaded to the internet for you to enjoy. Visit www.challengevideos.com for video of the event.
Ralph Savarese is on the Way to the Bracket Finals after winning Event 8
09/03/05 - Ralph Savarese took advantage of incoming points leader, John Hadyniak's, second round exit to take the points lead and earn the right to represent the Corvette Challenge and Raceway Park at the Bracket Finals. It was a tight finish in the final against his nephew Chris Young but it is Savarese who becomes 2005's first repeat winner.

More details and videos are coming. Click for photo gallery. Points have preliminarily updated, (Raceway Park official points will be up Tuesday).

Race Day is Approaching
08/30/05 - Just a few more days and our break will be over and we will be back in action on Sep 3rd. Keep an eye out as John Hadyniak comes in with the points lead and looks to hold it so he can represent our Corvette Racers and Raceway Park in the National competition called the Bracket Finals held at US 13 Dragway in Delmar, DE on the weekend of September 29, 2005 to October 1, 2005. Gates open at 9 A.M. so we will see you there.

I will have my video camera so if you would to make sure I get video of your car, please let me know.

Edgar

Rain Ends Vette Doctors Pro 8 Race 4 after 1 Round
08/07/05 - The Vette Doctors made it's first Sunday appearance alongside the Jessel Ultra Quick 8 and we were all treated some very quick cars with Mike Mitchell in at number 1 with an 8.44 pass and Wayne Keegan coming in eighth with a 10.31. The rain came down after Round 1 so the event was called with round winners Mitchell, Angelo Valla, Mark Shaw and John Carter splitting the day’s payout. More details with pictures and videos to be put up over the next weekend.
John Panuzzo wins Event 7 to become Seventh Different Winner in Event 7
08/06/05 - John Panuzzo returned to the winner’s circle today taking the win over Bob Sebrowski in this 6-round Event 7. Panuzzo is the seventh different winner in seven races. More details to come but will be a little slow as I will be at our Vette Doctors Pro 8 Race tomorrow, Sunday Aug 7, as you should be as well. I have preliminarily updated the Standings.

Congratulate the drivers on The Corvette Forum.

Wake up...Its time to go Racing
08/06/05 - It is 12:48 and officially Saturday. Okay so it is a 3 PM start tomorrow and we don't have to wake up this early. Good luck to all the racers doing the double header and racing in the Corvette Show & Go. I will see you all there for the afternoon Corvette Challenge bracket race and hopefully again on Sunday for The Vette Doctors Pro Shootout.
Drivers, Know Your Opponent
07/31/05 - Please note that we will be paired on a ladder for our races when we have 32 cars or less. This can be either the second or third round of competition. It will not always be apparent when the ladder will be used because it is hard to tell from the staging lanes how many cars we have. Please ask fellow drivers or a Raceway Park official if there is a ladder for the next round. If there is a ladder, a Raceway Park official will tell you which car number you are paired with. Please be sure and find that car as soon as you know which one it is. Bob, Dennis and/or I will try to help organize this but you can help too by finding your opponent, settling lane choice (driver agreement or coin flip) and being ready for the next round. Knowing your opponent for the round will smooth the flow of the round as we have to navigate around cars to pair up sometimes.

Thank you for your help

Remembering Dave Ramsden
06/04/05 - It is almost two years since our friend Dave Ramsden passed away. We took a collection to have a brick placed at the National Corvette Museum. Dave's wife Debbie put in the additional funds needed to make it a large brick. The Brick was placed in spot number 79 next to Lingenfelter and Romolo Cifelli's brick. His wife Debbie once again gives thanks for our support in getting the brick to honor Dave, who we will all miss, dearly.

2005 ECS Corvette Challenge and Vette Doctors Pro 8 Awards Banquet
04/19/05 - I realized today I had not made an official announcement regarding our new date and location for our next Awards Banquet. Write it down and more detials will follow as the date draws near. We had to find a new locations for primarily two reasons. First we wanted a bigger room. Second, after party musical entertainment and cover charge presented an issue for some of our guests. 2004 Video DVD Available
01/15/05 - The DVD is ready for mass production, (which is not as easy as it sounds) so I need to have an idea who would like one. The DVD covers the last four races of the season (since I got my camera). The DVD has videos in the staging lanes, in-car, starting line, burnouts, and the top end. Mixed in are pictures from various events and some interviews and a couple of experimental surprises. The DVD is intended as a memento of the season and also a way to support www.challengevideos.com website which is quickly running out of space.

I will ask for a "donation" to the web site to purchase additional space in exchange for the DVD. I am asking for a donation of $15 for a copy of the DVD which will come in a slim case to keep next to your other favorite DVD's. Please tell me if you would like a copy so I can have it ready for the banquet.

If you would like a copy mailed to you, send me an email Edgar.

NOTE: The DVD is Rated R for use of some foul language. No, not from the drivers. A couple of songs are original versions instead of edited. (Sorry)
