9/6/02 - East Coast Supercharging has signed on the to be the title sponsor of the Corvette Challenge Quick 4. The Quick 4 is the "heads-up" racing we all like to see. At our last race we were treated to a wheel standing 9.79 qualifying run by Quick 4 winner Keith Brownlee. The winner of the Quick 4 will receive $200. The runner-up will receive $100. The two semi-finalists will receive $50 each. Further details to follow and qualifying rules are at The Quick 4 home page here. Rookie of the year award announced
9/5/02 - Announcing the Spectrum Voice & Date Rookie of the Year Award. The top points earning rookie will be awarded a trophy and a gift certificate at the 1st Annual Awards Banquet (details yet announced). In order to be considered for the honor, the driver must not have participated in more than ONE event in the prior 3 years. Starting today, the points standings on the left hand side of this page will include an "r" next to a driver that is eligible for Rookie of the Year. As you can see from the list, being a rookie does not appear to be a disadvantage in this series as 4 of the Top 10 drivers are Rookie of the Year eligible. Granted these rookies may not be rookies to the sport of bracket racing, but they are rookies with the series and even with some with their Corvettes. Best of luck to all Cartek Corvette Challenge Rookies.

Clarifiation on the Rookie rule (01/28/04). Since this was written a few years ago, clarification on Rookie eligibility is needed. The intent of the rule is "not having earned more than one point in the Corvette Challenge, ever (the series was only three years old at inception of this award).

Make plans for the Funny Car Reunion on July 27, 2002
6/2/02 As part of our Cartek Corvette Challenge program on Saturday July 27, 2002, Berserko Bob has challenged Jungle Pam to a best of three match race. Pam has accepted the race and they will drive identical Vettes. This event is a pre-race to the Funny Car Reunion that will take place on the following day. I would strongly suggest that anyone that has an interest is vintage drag racing, or would just like to see what is was like back then to race, to come and enjoy this great show.

It will be a WHO'S WHO of old time Funny Car racing, in many of the same machines that made the drivers famous.

The BIG question is, who will back Jungle Pam up from her burnouts? One of Jungle Pam's MOST important jobs was to back Jungle Jim up after his famous burnout.

Now you could have that opportunity of backing up Jungle Pam by simply making a tax deductible donation to the Hematology Research Fund in any amount you choose. Send your check to Raceway Park, ATTN: Michelle Marchese, Funny Car Reunion, 230 Pension Road, Englishtown, NJ 07726. The honor of backing up Pam will go to the person who makes the largest donation by July 26, 2002. Just think.... YOU could be right on the starting line in one of the most famous rituals in drag racing with one of drag racing's best known personalities.

Please don't pass up this chance of a lifetime.

Raceway Park has just given us another race day.   It is a special race for the top 4 in the points standings.   On one of their Wednesday night shows......usually they entail shows like Robosaurus, Monster trucks, Pro Mods, Fuel dragsters and Fuel Funny cars, Alcohol Funny cars, Jet Dragsters and Jet trucks...and draw as many as 50,000 spectators....we will have the top 4 points racers running in this show also!! Think what it would feel like to race in front of 50,000 people!! If you think you would like to race in this event all you have to do is place in the top 4 in points at the time the track picks the day.   Come out and sign up for the points series, (just how to do that has not been announced yet so keep tuned) and get in the action.   Remember in last year's series nobody was a shoe in.   It went to the last race before the points champion was crowned!!
