Marotta Racing

Marotta racing is a father with a Z-06 Vette and a son with a Z-28 Camaro. I am Lenny, older with slower reflexes but have more experience going for me. My son Josh or known to some, as Giacomo is younger, bigger, stronger with faster reflexes is looking to kicking my butt. We never raced, but on the street we came close a couple of times but I had to set a good example or maybe he was showing me.

Josh is getting help from Carmen Melillo and Dennis Hemmerly, The Vette Doctors (who support the Corvette Challenge). They are setting my sons Camaro up, bolt on stuff at first. We will go at it the day of the Corvette Challenge. The Vette Doctors is how I found out about the Corvette Challenge. I was at The Vette Doctors and Carmen said to me "you are an old hot rodder and drag racer. We are going to Raceway Park in the morning to race the Corvette Challenge. Would you like to go with us?" So I did and I had a GREAT time. I did 3 runs and lost in the first round. But it was the last weekend of the Challenge. I was hooked but had to wait till the next year to race again. The people the cars the whole event was awesome.

So this year I wanted to be part of this event so I became a sponsor. I started drag racing when I was 16. Raced moms 55 Buick lost to a 57 Chevy wagon. Bought a 56 speedster for $800 and won 5 straight stock class wins and overall class at West Hampton Raceway. West Hampton had a flagman start you; those were the day's of grass roots racing. It was in my blood. Got my first Vette, a 90-coupe 6 speed. I did some work to it but never raced it. It sure was fast. Needed a new kitchen for the house at that time so the Vette was sold. Had to wait a couple of years but now I've got a Z-06. Out of the box it blew my old 90's doors off. I drive the Z-06 every day and I plan to road and drag race every chance I get. So I will see you at the Corvette Challenge. I'll let you know how I make out against my son. At least I won't lose to a Mustang.
